At Priority Learning Solutions we believe creating a Professional Learning Community (PLC), as defined by Richard DuFour, is a collaborative approach in which educators work together to improve teaching and learning with a focus on student achievement. Central to creating the PLC at each school is implementing the four guiding questions:
These questions create a cycle of continuous assessment, reflection, and instructional adjustment, ensuring that teaching is data-driven and targeted to student needs. PLCs are important for academic achievement because they align teacher efforts, encourage shared responsibility for learning outcomes, and foster consistent, research-based strategies across classrooms. When implemented school-wide, PLCs promote a culture of collaboration, collective accountability, and ongoing professional growth, ultimately leading to more equitable and improved outcomes for all students.
